This is a time lapse video of a bur oak pruning. I use only one rope and my Silky Zubat. I removed dead wood only. My trailer and all of my gear was stolen at this job. This video and some news coverage is what I got out of the experience. Oh yea, and there are four beautiful bur oak on Lincoln Blvd that will be spared the hacks chainsaw. I welcome your thoughts, comments, whatever. Thanks. Jeffrey Grewe Arbor Aesthetics |

Thanks for your remarks fellas. About my gear: I was not insured and I have not gotten it back. One more thing learned the hard way. But I did get some pretty good media coverage from it... for whatever that's worth. The trailer was stolen from it's position in the photo. I typically leave my stuff a job until it's done. Lesson learned. Jeff Arbor Aesthetics |

They just hooked it up and drove away? How didn't you see it? I take it from the media coverage, you got a fair work load from it though, yeah?

It was probably at 2am when they drove away. My equipment moves from job to job. The hitch was locked. They probably rigged it with rope or chains, pulled it to a nearby garage. There they probably used a grinder to take care of the locks. It was spotted the next day across the river in Iowa. It was spotted because of the news piece and the logo on the trailer. The logo is one of the reasons I thought it would not ever be stolen... I cloud go on and on about the situation. What I understand now is that it's really easy to be a thief/criminal when your law enforcement personnel are lazy, incompetent, and apathetic. Dealing with the police was a mind blowing experience for me. I would have fired them all been before noon their first day on the job. The theft was pretty brazen: I just didn't expect it. Oh ok, dang. If you do continue to move your trailer from job to job (assuming you get insurance), aswell as your hitch lock, maybe you should get a wheel lock aswell? As for the lazy cops, say no more. The ones round here are lazy and corrupt. The only time they have been "on behaviour" is when a guy in a tank went on a rampage through out Mt Druitt and there were cameras everywhere. Here is the story: Man goes on tank rampage | The Daily Telegraph Actually I'm gunna start up another thread bout that... Anyways, hope it all works out for you and goes good for you.

Ya gotta wonder why they're so hard to deal with, what they deal with on a daily basis. Guy comes in and he's like "my trailer's stolen!" They ask where you last saw it, "well I left it with all my equipment I need to run my business, thousands worth, at a job site unwatched for the night. But I DID use a $15 lock to protect it!" They look at eachother and roll their eyes... lesson learned. Sorry to hear about your stuff though man, that's pretty crummy. My house got ransacked while I was gone on a business trip a couple years back, they took it all. I know that feeling and it sucks. Hope ya pull through it okay. | |

No it's not the cops fault. I said they were no help and that being a thief in Omaha Nebraska would be easy. As it is. And the cops are lazy and incompetent here in Omaha, or at least the ones I dealt with were. There were locks on the door and the hitch. I don't care to defend or justify the way I operate my business. I've done what I've had to do in order to provide the level of service I do. I'm not getting paid to go out on those limbs like that. I do it because I love climbing and I love trees. I'd make a lot more money if I was just a tree cutter. I could charge nearly the same price; spend a fifth the amount of time there; and assault the tree with a chainsaw from a bucket truck and be rich with time to spare. I'd much rather talk trees and climbing than and such than to say anything further about my stolen gear. |

Wow, you're really making some blanket statements there. I'd see hitch and door locks as about a 2 min disturbance if I were so inclined. They aren't meant to be cheap insurance, more to keep people honest while you're in Walmart. (Wallabymart to you Aussies) I'm just not sure how your level of tree care would change at the price of gas to haul them home and back. Granted, gas is expensive. But the risk/reward assesment doesn't pan out. I'd be mad as hell at myself. If ya aren't getting paid to "go out on those limbs like that"... then you should be!!! Ya just reduced half of the qualified arbs here who work out of bucket trucks and use chainsaws as "tree cutters". Ya might wanna examine where your anger is coming from before you throw any more rhetoric. What kinda trailer was it anyway? All mesh? Partially-fully enclosed sheetmetal? I'd be lookin around on CRAIGSLIST if I were you and seeing who's trying to off a trailer that looks just like YOURS for cheap. In the future ya might also try writing your name/number in welding beads on the underside of the trailer. I'm sure alot of crooks wouldn't bother to look and it'd give you a source of positive ID. |

Naive I may be; and frequently impractical or foolish; no doubt. But I'm great at what I do. Arbor Aesthetics is the name for a reason. It has occurred to me that I can no longer do this type of work: see below. The realization is a bit depressing. Jeff ??????: Photos & Video from Arbor Aesthetics ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm not sure either, but rest assured. If he can't bring himself to do it, someone else will do it in his place. And my oh my, there are some real butchers out there. By quitting, he'd almost be sentancing them to being hacked. Sad story, eh.. I suppose each person can only handle so much. |

Therrin, never said I was quiting tree work. Just not doing the same kind of work. Lots of folks do tree work: no one around here does what I do. I think there's some miscommunication here. I mean no offense. Thanks for the welcome. And newguy18, no offense taken, I don't know what else I'd do if I were not in trees. And I wouldn't make my first posts to an arborist forum just to let everyone know that I quit. Ekka, sorry, I didn't mean for you too look at all of them. The first page or two give the gist. The pics are not just of work. What I meant was that my trees are beautiful. I love putting on a show in trees and making them beautiful: I've tried to create a market for what I enjoy doing. Anyway, I appreciate the welcome, the comments on my video and the a$$ chewing. Good day. Last edited by arboraesthetics; 17th April 2008 at 12:24 AM. |

Hello from almost spring time N.W. England U.K. Firstly respect for your climbing and pruning. You are welcome over here any day with that commitmant and ability.Working with me that is!!! We also promote the same work ethos. The tree provides the work and climbing scenario/enviorenmant, the client pays the chq/bills, we provide the service, safety, peace of mind etc. All being well everyone comes out on top! We carry out 50% of our work load on this type of work, dead wooding, crown thinning, reductions, crown lifting etc. The other 50% T.D.'s and hedge work...Lots of hedges in the U.K...no palm trees!!! My head is in the same place as yours Aroraesthetics, our lock up was cleared out on Sunday night...3xheavy duty padlocks all cut...MS880 with 36" bar and ripping chain and Alaskan sawmill taken along with Stihl 020t and Oleomac top handle plus assorted power tools for our landscaping side...I could ffff*** cry! This is the second time in 3 yrs and we have only just recovered from 1st time. No, gear was not insured as cover is a piss take. Last time we lost clients because we had nothing to work with! Some actualy complained about waiting!!! Good luck with your gear |

This stolen gear situation could explain some of the reputation of the trade, to have shady operators. Because I never see arb gear in the pawn shop.
