LOL, I think I got some bark in my eye!

Nice video, that's murder on your ropes even when you do it really good as seen here. Charge well when you have no other options. The log often belts into the tree, if your rope is in there then it gets crushed.

Vertical Speed Line is often overlooked, it allows the ground to take the pounding but secures the log from bouncing away, just tossing it out there so readers think outside the box.

YouTube - Let it run
Is that footage of "you" rigging? Nice clean job, maybe a little too much fall and a little too abrupt of a stop. GM could use a little instruction.

It was a beginner groundie running the Porty in the first set, then an experienced climber running the Porty in the second set. I thought the beginner did very well, for his first attempt at using a Porty.

hey Eric I have seen your vertical speed line video and it is impressive to watch, maybe you show it on this thread so the people understand what it meant to do

Here's the thread for it.

I have edited the video to make it shorter and more to the point, also stuck it on YouTube as I moved webhosts (once again).

Vertical speed line, a nice trick

One block almost smashed a window because I got lazy and didn't shorten the slack ... but it shows how it works in that thread.

I like the v-speed lline, (haven't tried it yet, but will). Removes a lot of stress from the rigging I would think.
