Nope... Much of our work in the PNW is rather straightforward.... but, no, my prices are fair.....have to be as there's so danged much competition out here... For instance, today we removed a 40" dbh cedrus deodar.....wickedly wide, over two houses, very small zone to bring brush down. The GRCS made it a tad easier........and we still have to crane out the bottom 35 feet, with a tiny 6-7 ton boom truck as there's no room for anything bigger. The other bids were around $8000, obviously by idiots that have no clue how to do a moderately tough tree, or a good company looking to make some big dough. My price was $3050......no fees as my craftsman is paying the boom truck guy to take the wood to his place where he can mill it.

True but I don't like ripping people off. the work we all do isn't easy, but I'm plenty happy with a rate of around $90-110 per manhr...... total time on that job will prolly end up at ~26 manhrs..... plus the dead dead dead ailanthus in the pk strip, majorly overpruned many times for line clearance...killed for sure by that, but the responsiblility of the homeowner to remove, including the stump and replanting. There's 7 wires going through it, its only 50 feet tall...gonna use the same guy with the dinky old boom truck as my tie in point...and do it on a Sat when he's available. will drop 5 of the phone cable lines myself and work around the two service lines....I'll charge plenty for it.....

These are service lines.....if an arborist observed the letter of the "law", which is 10 feet from any potentially energized conductor (a phone or cable line could become energised...dunno how, but it could) , he'd not get much work done.... Today's tree had a bit of canopy closer than 10 feet from the primary..not much, and it was all easily swung away....and one branch near the transformer, which I pole pruned away a bit at a time.... |

I'm happy, I just found a local woodturner club, they have over 100 members...They'll love the rounds that my furniture maker doesn't want.... and be another great source for getting rid of some good wood so it doesn't have to go to firewood. |

Yup..... The first is the easy fir drop. Dave had dropped the top 86 feet...taking big tops is sure fun! The next is from our logging job this past week, we climbed and sectioned or felled 6 fir, all 110-160 footers, two with a fair bit of size. And used the pull lines in two of the topped trees as "reverse speed lines" to yard some brush and a log (about 70 board feet) out of the rough. oh, and who said I don't like Stihls....?:greenchainsaw: So, can't you embed utube vid's here?
