What usually happens here is we even stop people using product and brand names for the membership unless they pay advertising. We then change all their links they drop so they get no Google benefit (SEO). We even sometimes ban them, or delete their posts.

With you we did not because it was a tough case, it was between advertising and knowledge of a new product. But in the real world any new product still needs advertising. If you wanted your product in a magazine or trade show you have to pay.
