So...you need to lower the machine after you get to the top? It's nice if you need to climb big stuff all the time.

definitely good for high climbs. Or for coming down for lunch because its so easy to get back up. Instead of just finishing like i tend to do. |

| all you have to do is post something good in a thread and anybody will talk to you.Anything that saves energy for the climber is a goodthing more energy to use where ever the climber needs to go. Personally I think this is the best thing since sliced bread.

So, lets hope you never need to be rescued and ask some-one to get up there in a hurry. ![]() I always wonder why the bar is set so low for tree people, we do it to ourselves, if ya not busting your ass you're a whimp or something. If it was all about strength elephants would rule this planet.

Does anyone know if this device will allow you to descend as well or do you have to tie in unhook device and then descend. Before anyone beats me up on this, an example is to run up a tree just to clean a tear or stub and then run back down without all the tie ins necessary with regular ascenders. |

![]() I played with this in a park, you can be real smart and set the line through a cambium saver. One end of the rope is tied off to the tree via a lowering device and the PME ascends the other "leg" of rope. when you want to come down a groundy can lower you (making sure there is enough rope in the bag to do so). Set up a DRT typical system through a cambium saver. On the tail of the rope install the PME to ascend. On the other end of the rope that you usually terminate to your harness install a prussik. Ascend the rope. When you want to come down simply use the prussik (make sure enough rope in the bag). ![]() Another way is the PME comes with Tibloc and ID. Install the ID below the PME, take a bite on the rope above the PME with the Tibloc (has a foot loop), take the rope out of the PME and let the PME hang on your belt, take slack up on the ID and once the ID has you remove the Tibloc ... abseil down. More cumbersome for sure. Quote:

Great idea. Why take another stinky, big, heavy, noisy, hot, smelly two stroke motor up the tree with you though? One (chainsaw) is enough I say! Can't it stay at the bottom and winch you up? The future is electric. Surely an industrial strength cordless drill could do the same? Brushless motors and LiPo batteries re already powering cordless chainsaws for up to 8 hours. If u are sceptical, look Google Pellenc website for some truly groundbreaking technology and this is the tip of the electric iceberg! Think of the ascender you could plug into it!

Well when you have finished day dreaming you can go out in the market place and buy from what is there. Quote:
They do have a reversable electric unit, weighs twice as much and is a lot larger physically, hardly practical, besides .... burning two stroke is part of the fun.

Very impressive. I might have to see if anyone carries them over here in Canada, or see if they wish to have a Distributor, or Dealership over here. Never knew that there was anything like that out there. Bruce.
