Default Helmet Camera Tachyon XC Micro

I've been contemplating buying one of these helmet cam's and was just wondering if anyone has any experience, opinions or thoughts about this model or any other similar types of cam's. These are completely self contained and have rather high spec's for a camera of this price.

It's only 90 degrees wide angle....maybe not enough for tree work.

Lot's of info here: Helmet Camera Central - Reviews,Shopping,Forums,Live Chat http://tiny.cc/ojy2c XC Micro is not listed......
VholdR ContourHD 1080p - Helmet Camera Central http://tiny.cc/8lrbo looks to be a great unit.....

This helmet cam for its price is not bad. Two features that stand out are the waterproof to 10 metres and time lapse photography... These two features are the only two that the ContourHD does not have.

My recommendation is get yourself a ContourHD. I bought the model just before the latest. 780p HD, 30fps, 60fps for standard definition. The latest one that came out has come out with all new modes for HD including 1080p. 135* degree viewing too.

I have quiet a bit of footage from it at the moment, I may edit up a small piece tonight and load it.. The quality is remarkable.

Check out the ContourHD (top of the line helmet cam) before you make your purchase - HD Helmet Cam - ContourHD and ContourHD 1080p by VholdR

Thanks for the info. JD do you have any footage that you've shot with the new helmet cam?

I noticed that the ContourHD has only a 105° viewing angle in 1080P.

After kicking around the pluses and minuses I decided to go with the new GoPro Hero 1080P Helmet cam. Although it costs $299, which is a lot more than the Tachyon, the video quality is far superior. Not to mention the 170° angle of view in ultrawide mode and the 127° angle of view in 1080P mode. Thanks to JD for pointing out the importance of the angle of view. Something that I hadn't considered when looking at the Tachyon.

I'll try to post some video after I shoot some.
