Very interesting, also there's an embedded video in the link worth watching. I also managed to swipe it and load it here.

Was a tough one to swipe, anyone else it's a challenge for your skills to grab that one.

Large trees near Hawaii's busiest roads present a growing problem, but there is a new solution. The state is now taking a good long look at what needs to be cut back instead of just going in and hacking away.
The state's next tree trimming and tree removal project will be along the H-3 Freeway. Tree limbs there are beginning to grow over the road where they pose the risk of falling onto passing vehicles.
Instead of cutting them all down just because they are close to the road, the state has hired an arborist to differentiate between trees that should be allowed to grow and those that should go.
"The purpose of the survey was to determine high risk trees that have a highest potential of failing. (We're) Not just clear-cutting and saying (we need a) 50 foot clearance on both sides of the road and everything has to come out. The idea was to select trees that were the highest risk that could fail and cause immanent damage to the traffic and to people," said arborist Steve Nimz of Steve Nimz & Associates..... more |
