Yep! chain her up, I don't need a hair cut, she had a lean backwards towards the HV lines, we had two ropes pulling her hard and this makes alot of pressure when backcutting .Mt Ash love's splitting and cracking so more caution must be taken plus always use a sharp saw and keep it cutting. When it hit the ground she split most of the way along because of it's straight grain.Watch out for jamming saws.
Have seen barber chairs, root plates lift up and tree sliding back of the stumps, allways try to limit these hazards as much as possible it's danagerous enough and be ready for the unexpected, shit does happen! and in your joc's aswell.

Darn you guys get LOTS OF ROOM to do your thing, bomb off the big crap top. I love bombing off stuff, just in burbs you dont get much chance.

But like you said, out rural areas many do it themselves if not too big or dodgey and most blocks are pretty much cleared here.... well, up to within 10m of the house.

Yep, I watched them all and liked the big log felling ones the most.

Old mate bouncing on the end of some rope bringing over a decent log, quite a task. Obviously the hinge wood of those mountain ash is quite flexible unlike say ironbark.

It didn't matter where you went, the bloody sawdust still blew in your face.

Why does that always happen?

Must be Murphys law.

A bit of stuffing around couldn,t see because of the sawdust and the scarf had to be spot on, as it was very tight and the ground was unlevel between the two roads (No damage).Sammy was the camera man out of the bucket truck that day.Got some more good vid from a job yesterday of two dead tops coming out at the same time, this thing was dead as a door nail.
Thanks
