Default Dead Ash tree - Crane - Removal

A dead ash tree removal, yesterday. That mark in the climbing rope is just where it snagged on a fence, that’s all.

Apart from rain drops on the lens for most of the video (I’ll have to remember to wipe it more often) the job went ok. Thanks

Part 1

Part 2

Awesome crane work mate, it just a pain that you guys cant ride the hook to get up into the tree as it save time and energy. How long did the the work take and what size crane did you use. Keep up the awesome work

That was a 35 ton

It took about half a day for that one and a couple of others next to it.

Although it was fragile, that was probably one of the easiest Ive had to do i.e. quite a sparce, open crown, easy to get around, just a matter of choosing the right attachment points, cuts, and allowing the guys the time to dispose of each limb before sending the next one down.

Thanks for showing us another great vid. Love to watch them on a Sun AM.

Couple of questions: What's up with the cambium saver? Ain't no cambium getting saved here. Also no dialogue, not even any swearing I like to hear for dramatic effect. And.... Even though you inspected that rope wound wasn't that in the back of your mind and distracting? Looked pretty nasty. I changed a spike wound to the other end yesterday bcs I couldn't stand looking at it right there while in the air. Nice to see you fly some stuff out this time. How many crews/tree services do you sub out to?

Agreed, Sunday AM is a great time of the week when you dont have to be anywhere

I was actually considering going one better and trying one of those rope-guide-pulley-things....perhaps one day soon

I almost left the swearing in but decided it was just a little too coarse

That scuff has been in that rope for months now so I'm used to looking at it. Although, somehow I do find it mildly irritating to watch in the video.

I had to free-fall some of that dead stuff around the tie-in point as there was a risk of the crane breaking it off while reaching over for the last horizontal

I sub to about 6 regulars and a couple of less frequent....this particular company is a good one

Nice crane work

What kind of bar do you use from Oregon? Laser-tip plus solid-nose bar or power match plus bar or an other variation.

I use also Oregon bars, but sometimes the nose sprocket comes be stuck....

Thanks

Sorry Roel I'm not sure to be honest, I just specified the lengths. A 30in on the 390 and 36in on the 3120.

well ive used the 3120 but not the 880 i have a 660 and like it im not that bothered by which saw i use as long as it does the job. but the 3120 is quite a nice well balanced saw and not too heavy IMO that is.

just use a ms200t with a 12" and 14" bar now and bring up the big boys only when needed what weight is the 51 husky.

I prefer the 3120....and I'm not just saying that because I own one.

Ive used the 880, 088 and 084 for years and they've just never done it for me mate. I bought that 3120 second hand and it seems to just hit the spot in every way

Itweighs about 12-13 pounds,i usually use a 20" bar on it but also have a 16" bar for it.It has seen trunk diameters of 4' plus.It just keeps going.I got it used last year from a saw shop.for the reply Reg.
