Willem, the balance on that particular lift was a little awkward, plus it was a good size section and the crane was extended quite a way. There were 4 dead-eye slings involved to cradle the limb, often refered to as spider-legs now days. Other than one other awkward shaped limb, only 2 slings were used for all the other lifts....and then chains for the heavy stuff towards the end.

Newguy, the camera was between 5-6 hundred pounds. Thanks

Thumbs up Re: BeechTree-Crane-Removal: the video

Such a smooth crane job. You made that look much to easy for people, myself included. Every crane job ive been involved in and had a video camera I set up a tripod from a neighbors yard or filmed from far away. I like the shots from under the canopy. Especially the opening shot, the top of the tree just starts moving and floating over the rest of the tree. Ive got new inspiration to film. thanks for the video. Awesome.

The guys working the stop/go signs on the road copped for most of it, although only one bypasser was abusive.

The jacket is made by Stein who also make other arbor type clothing and PPE. I wouldn't normally go for this type of branded stuff but this jacket looked durable and anti-snag as well being waterproof, breathable (with extra zipped vents down the sides) and obviously Hi-Vis which is always a bonus. See photos.

Nice camera work.

How long do you think that the tree would have lasted, before a catastrophic event, given its state of decay?

Impossible to say. But hollow trees can stand for decades without collapse and then sometimes a seemingly healthy tree will uproot in the wind. This one may have buckled just above the base sometimes down the line or perhaps shed one of the major limbs in the summer....

A little less of a critical location and it most probably would have been either left or undergone some tip-reduction to lessen the load. Whichever, I had no influence in the matter

Enjoyed another RC1 vid. Would love to see the choker setting. I know this is slow and cumbersome and takes away from the flow and ease of the appearance but this is the pro aspect. Those pieces are so well balanced that is what lessens the danger of the climber when cutting (along with the location of the boom).

Ever consider making a little drama (fiction) with good guys (you/us), wankers, hacks, HO's, etc. and a story mixed in with these great videos? It would be fun for you and us and maybe work into a career for you and maybe be an informercial for our profession?

Love the opening shot, and the music.
