In the second or third post in this thread I mentioned that 1890 in the video is not like the one I owned. Mine was a 1998 model and the news ones are even bigger.

Hmmm, something fishy going on then. Need some USA pics and sizes ... maybe we're getting some redneck version.

Trev,
would you say that with the vermeer 1800 has the same "pull" capacity as the 18" bandits even when the lift n crush is used??
What does the vermeer rely on to pull the rollers together? hydraulcs, springs? and it it adjustable??
Cheers, only seen them used not used one myself.

Not too sure about diff in "pull"....
Mine needs some tuning of the hydraulics at the moment, not pulling as good as it should.

The vertical rollers are brought together by 2 big springs, does the job, keeps it simple, gives enough force that they pull rather than spin on material yet they open up and say ahhhh at the first sniff of a big log coming their way.

110hp Turbo Perkins job. Yes truck bin really is a bit small, some thing with a massive bin that will get you through most days would be nice, we often fill it during the day and need to empty to continue work. We offload mulch too schools alot but its a strugglee right now with school holidays...

Big new rig would be nice but $$$$$$

Dont think theres much else real different, but cant confirm....

When i got mine (2nd hand) the 170hp had just come out. Anew one wasnt an option for me at the time and would have cost as extra $45K

I'm happy with what this one does as with our work being a mix of small/medium/large removals and just as much pruning work it plenty capable and still under utilised. For Double the price i dont think the 170hp would have earned that back. In my case anyway. If your about flat out block clearing and dropping trees in paddocks and can always get the chipper right up to the tree and have a loader to feed it, then great.

Most of the time we are carting parts out from the back yard, down the side of the house, through a 30" gate, out the driveway, to the street, to the chipper. Could have stuffed it through the ol 6"

Mate, I'm getting to the stage of not wanting jobs where I cant get the Kanga in.

It's ridiculous to hump in this heat when you got one of those machines to do it.
