Default Alain Robert| Incredible French Climber| Buildings too

Check this guy out. Climbed Centre Point Tower ... on the outside. And a few other of the worlds tallest buildings.

AKA: Spiderman!

Yes i watrched this guy for a few years but then he started having to be rescued from every climb, empire state building, twin towers, petronas towers, but one hell of a climber otherwise but he should grow old gracefully before he falls to his death.

I worked on the NY Times building when it was being built. The 2" ceramic rods that adorn the outside of the entire building make a perfect ladder to climb the top. Although many of us thought that the rods would make an ascent rather easy, no one thought that someone was crazy enough to do it.

My dad worked on the construction of the World Trade Center in the 70's. He and an army of police officers and other personnel got to greet George Willig when he made it to the top.

IMO these guys are all nuts.

Did you see him on the news tonight?

He scaled 41 story high RBS tower in Sydney.

'Spiderman' scales Sydney skyscraper

Quote:
The Frenchman took less than an hour to climb up and down the 218-metre building, even taking time to chat with office workers on a lower level as he made his way back to earth.

Superintendent Ken Finch was less than impressed with Roberts' efforts.

"The potential for danger not only to that person is enormous but a danger to onlookers, and to the emergency services who were diverted from the normal course of their duties," he said. "It's not only dangerous, it's time-consuming and costly to the taxpayers of this state."

Roberts was taken to The Rocks police station and questioned before being charged with risking the safety of another by climbing a building or structure.

He was released on bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court tomorrow.

It's not the Frenchman's first brush with NSW police: in 2003 he was arrested for scaling the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

He got lectured by the Magistrate and copped a $750 fine.

'Spider-Man' fined for climbing building

Now on this bit ....
Quote:
Robert potentially faced three months in jail and a $1,100 fine but wasn't liable under legislation to pay the $7,000 police estimate it cost to deploy about 20 officers.
.... imagine that, you having to pay for the cops deployment. Well, if they were American cops you'd have to double the bill for the hot dogs and donuts!

I saw it on the news, he was busted not long ago in Sydney and I say his fine this time will be a lot larger.

He's climbed 137-metre-high (almost 450 feet) Hang Seng Bank headquarters in Hong Kong in January 2011.
