Eric
The 45m is a hire in,great tower, i have some very excellent footage from the bucket and woody(Justin) had his helmet cam on too, but have to edit it first this will take time. It's got tree shaking, rope smoking, tree climbing, rigging and big blocks crashing down, this one's got the lot.

How did you go at that night job?

cheers

Another dead tree today, i used the tower as a high point, couldn't quite reach with the tower.

cheers

Very impressive, calm well thought out cuts...good judgement and touch esp the lateral over the lines way below.
When I was climbing a lot more I never had cause to use a bucket as a high tip, but with a documented risk assessment the safety of such a practice-enabling the removal of the dead tree over target-would definately justify its use imo.

As always you guys make what I know to be hard and hazardous look easy and comfortable...very well done. Good angle too, level with the climber.

Nice work there Ace

What kind of cut was used on that first video with the branch? To get it to fall but first like that I'm assuming a step cut When I drop big branches using a step cut I like to unclip the saw from my tool strop to make the cut, just incase of the unpredictable and it wants to bite my saw

One time I was step cutting a blackbutt branch probably half a metre long and about 10-12 inches in diameter, little that I knew at the time I hadn't made the top cut parallel with the bottom and it bit my saw as it was dropping... I held on for some reason... OUCH! Man did that ever hurt... Had to jiggle the log off of the bar while holding and supporting the 2.

JohN Dee

It took about 4 hours to set that all up, Justin the climber took small nibbles at it untill it just ripped off by it's own weight. It was a pretty big branch plus we had 2 ropes pulling down.

I would have put a snap cut in it, hidden around the other side and said reef on it with all ya got!

Snap cut at 45 degree angle inline with pulling direction and rope further out. Just my 0.02

Is a step cut simaler to what i know as a jump cut where you make an undercut[not a notch]and make a matching top cut to make the limb drop straight down?
