Cool video and pics mate. You guys get all the mad trees aye....

When ya took out the two tops at the same time, did you use the conventional backcut for the one your were tied into and backstrap and plunge for the other?

Thats freaking amazing! Man I would not touch that tree with a 20 foot pole. The whole weight distribution action on dead trees always worries me on large dead top cuts. You alleviate so much weight the tree tends to move (sway) I always fear sicnce it is dead the weight distribution will cause it to break under you. Man you got some serious cajones. You are DA MAN! God bless and be safe.

I used a conventional back cut on both tops. Each top had one pulling line with two blokes on each rope. i did it this way because i was worried about breaking one of the heads out if i had done them one at a time. When i took one of the lower branches off it shook both tops,so i thought they best way would be to do both at same time and use the back hinge force against each other to my advantage to minimise the shaking of the tree.

When we fired our line from the bigshot and pulled the climbing line up bits of the top was breaking up the ground crew were worried about it collapsing, whe i got up to the fork it had a crack which i could fit my leg in which went 10ft below the fork. The ground crew had to be very careful even when pulling the slack of the rope up. I had to tie up both split forks together before doing any cutting at all. Everything was slow and very cautious in each cut and movement we were also worried about how much of the root system was holding it up, but i knew we could do the job safely and professionally .When i first looked at it i had two different ways that it could of been done, but it all changed when i climbed up there

I get that all the time aswell and I think many others do too. I forward plan how I'm going to successfully takedown the tree at hand(usually at the quote) and then when it is job day and you start getting in there, easier and more clear ways start presenting themselves once you're in the tree.

Much respect to ACE from me for the work you and your crew make look so easy.....I know for myself its not!

The change in plans is something I think we all experience on climbing jobs of all kinds, its fine so long as you keep good communication with the ground crew and listen to their input (well especially when you have a crew like Ace!!) There's nothing worse than deciding to alter the agreed sequence of some other aspect of the job then not have everyone sining from the same sheet....part of our toolbox talk is pretty much always..." of course I'll reassess it once up there, and we'll make alterations as necessary"

Great work as others have said Ace
