Update: some good news.

Whether it was coincidence or not, I got a phone call from RCC today, shortly after emailing our local councillor. RCC have now said the dead tree is now scheduled to be removed in 4-6 weeks time.

Once it is down I will confirm back again that all is good.

Thank you to all for your support in helping us get the dead tree removed.

A special thank you goes to Eric who championed our council/tree drama!

Cheers

A big thank you to all our voters.

Let it be known that council did not make available their policies or evidence, they ran a shut shop. If government is by the people for the people then there is seriously something wrong when people are kept in the dark like here. It raises suspicion and makes you wonder what bureaucratic policies are being dreamt up.

This case has ended positively and clearly inline with what the vast majority of people voted.

I'm with all the others that voted, take it down but, I would gladly do the job just in exchange for the wood. Silky-Oak wood make beautiful turnings of all sorts.

I've just made a pen (yesterday) to give as a gift to the local mill owner that gave me a few edges from a large tree he slabbed, many years ago, and kept it for its own use (collection), "treasures" as he call them. His 74 years old and he's got more treasures than I can poke a stick at, now that he his retired and his oldest son is taking on the business, I have a good shot at benefiting with the son's pushing to get his father to clean up his wood "stash", as according to the son is just rubbish taking valued space...!

I certainly have an issue with most Councils attitudes towards the tree issues in general, some rules and decisions are absolutely, and bluntly ridiculous...!

Get that ugly thing down, before someone gets hurt...!

Cheers
George

I wouldn't want this tree in my front or back yard. Constant picking up the dead bark and not knowing if it would be acroos the fence or one of my kids when I came home would really bother me.
