Default This is me

Howdy from the great boreal forest,
I had to log in before I got kicked out for inactivity. So here's my story. Finished an Arboriculture Diploma at Olds College last year, and became a Cert.Arborist the same year. Started a climber and helper business in an area that has never had such a service and have been getting enough work to keep going steady but not turning any work away. To date no accidents, no damage, all happy customers. Just staying out of debt, the future looks good.

Good on you, hey, what's that snakey tree in your avatar?

Also, you got a Diploma in Arb from a college, but you still have to get what? An ISA cert Arb too? Hows that work?

There's a sticky thread in announcements on posting pics and files etc ... and I think you Scotts have brought us some much needed rain.

It has just stopped raining here in Brisbane ... 36 hours straight of good rain, got 60mm in the guage. Rain tank overflowing and pool is full.

Default It's an interesting site!

Hello EKKA and other readers,

My main interest in Tree World is learning more about mulch. I created a website for my friend who owns a large recycling operation in Norther New Jersey. His company, Caputo Recycling, creates thousands of yards of mulch from the disposals from hundreds of tree and landscape companies.

I'll probably check in monthly to catch up on some of the forums. If anyone shares my interest in mulch, you might want to check out a convienient mulch calculator that the programmers at my "real job" helped me develope.

Plug CAPUTO RECYCLING into Google and click on the FEELING LUCKY button.

Eric, your site puts mine to shame! where do you get the time?

Hi guys

Good to see ya here and loosen up some .... we get down and dirty here, the real tree world if ya know what I mean.

George from Caputo recycling, we'll get together in private, like ya site and ya work ... you got some great info there. Also, there's some unique injection equipment we need to expose. Anyways, it's a long weekend here, I'm in an internet cafe' so once back home I'll PM you and we'll do a little promotion.

Be happy.

Hi Ekka, You asked what that snakey tree is in my atavar. I've been waiting for someone to ask about that. Those are populus tremuloides or our most common native tree (the trembling aspen or poplar). These though are interesting, they don't know about gravity and normally grow straight as an arrow. The local info states that cattle would not graze near these trees and that the ground may be radioactive or that aliens had landed there and pissed on the ground. Who knows, but it's probably genetic, apparently the university of saskatchewan took some cuttings and they did not retain the upside down caracteristics. I would like to try myself.

Pretty unusual, if you can manage to grab some pics of some mature ones from a distance so we can see what their caper is.

They'd make some interesting tree for kids cubby houses then .

hi Boa, yeah i work in the tree industry. started out working for an old school lopper and slowly progressed from there. At the moment i'm with Pine Rivers Shire Council, just north of brissy. Got a business card and insurance, this has surprisingly resulted in getting the occassional private job on the weekend.

I have certIII in hort,Parks and Gardens and certIII hort/arb......Looking for some more education down the track....getting good experience where i am at the moment.

Never know what the future holds though.

What's the tree crowd like in Townsville?

G'day TreeStyle

You'll find the forum called tree information and tree fact factory very interesting and informative. http://www.treeworld.info/f29/
If you come across good docs and resources that's the place to post it.

Also, you may be able to put up the Pine rivers deal on VPO's if you know it or can link to it. That stuff is in the law section http://www.treeworld.info/f14/

Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay and the place is what you make it, being good arborists is what we are all about.

I work for a small company here in Townsville Northern Tree Specialists I've posted some photos of our work and the fun and games we have from time to time Northern Tree Specialists We also moved some fairly large raintrees recently which we're pretty proud of Large tree transplants

There aren't any other Arboricultural companies here, about 6 loppers and assorted lawn mower guys who also lop. Its not as bad as Brissy but its sad to see so little good tree care going on.

As Ekka said use this site to vent your frustrations share your successes and stimulate your mind, we can all learn heaps from each other and from that get stronger in the work we do.
