| Good morning my new brother and sister tree lovers. I am new to your site and look forward to lots of educating communication.I am not very knowligable on tree care as you will learn, however my passion and love for trees is sincere.I am in the middle of a pond building project ,with alot of trees around the area. I have a great deal of fill dirt that must go around some of these trees. This is where I am going to need some help. Will post pictures of my project and the problems that have arose. Again thanks for the welcome and from deep in the heart of it all Ohio U.S.A have a great day. Pappy. |

| Pappy, ![]() Get your camera ready and show us the trees and intended fill areas. Also, have a stab at what the soil is, like clay, sand, silt, loam or dang rocks! Structural supportive tree roots are usually within 10' of the trunk, then spreading way beyond the drip line of the tree is a vast network of "feeder" roots like the hair on your head (unless you're bald then hair elsewhere ).Too much fill can suffocate tree roots as tree roots need air, so raising soil levels with hard clay is not so good, sandy loam is better. Even if you do a little each year the tree can fool you because the feeder roots will come to the surface and feed the tree but the larger supportive roots may dieback and decay ... it takes a long time but can happen. So we can help but some pictures would be good. ![]()

| Thanks for the welcome EKKA, it took me a couple of visits to navigate around the various "caves" you have on this site. all very interesting. I work in the training and Occupational Health and Safety areas of the logging industry in Victoria and have for 20 years and I'll watch with interest what comes up on your site. ![]() |

| Welcome Faller, Good to have you here. I've started a thread about training here. Arboriculture| Arborist Training in Australia| Where to get it step by step I want to ensure we stay as neutral as possible in our advice and don't promote say Sponsors who pay to advertise only like some Organisations do. People should feel free to explore all the avenues of training, not just us, however they can choose us if they like, it's up to them. I see training as everyone's right, and is an area that should be accessible/available to all. By helping people with the NTIS website I liken it to the age old phrase, teach a man to fish and you feed him for life. If you can help out please do.

| Hi! to all who care .I have just stared collecting more chainsaw than I can afford. but when i see that special saw i just have to have it . first saw 028 farmboss super she still runs very strong. but now there our so many great deals i have to pace myself. LOL. my wife thinks i,m crazy. but when i want her to leave me alone i just start talking about my last great deal on my collection she leaves in about 30 seconds. but she always loves the wood stove in the winter when she is nice and toasty looking out on the back fields filled with snow . some of my saws 028 super ll, 029, 029 super, jonsered 630 super ll , 268 xp and my beast 046 mag. my last best deal was 14 hours ago husky 49 got it at the sunday flea market for $40.00 plastic is like new no spark cleaned it up fresh fuel runs great. i,m glad I found this site . I learn so much about the older saws . my DAD and I have a winter project a jonsered 630 that is brother cracked the case where the bar mounts . he said it got pinched but if you could see he riped a hole right through the poor saw. i think it was beer thirty and he drove over it. he said its beyoned repaire.but i,m looking to get a husky 61 and get the parts i need but it will be a fun project for me and pops in the garage this winter. thanks for listen ![]() |
