Things are going good here, the weather is finally getting colder now, I cant wait for the snow, I hate summer, and the heat that goes with it.

Do you work with trees in Tucson? Maybe you can tell me the kind of tree I was researching when I came upon this site.(...as soon as I figure how to download the image, that is.)

I find Tree World to be a great site. Everyone is nice, informed, to greater and lesser degrees and some downright funny at times.

Here is a question... Is a Palm plant a tree?how does that work?

Because I just ordered online a cool palm plant (or tree?) I want you to see Funarty, and let me know what you think, and anyone else...

its called a sago palm and I guess its from Japan...heres a link to the picture...

Over here we call them cycads ... never a palm as they're not a palm.

Cycas revoluta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Really expensive but really cool plants.

They're ancient cone bearing plants you know.

Very slow growers and hardy, love it here in fact. Good choice, dont over water and dont plant in a bog. Apparently can be toxic but never heard of an incident coz they're prickly.

Hi guys, I guess I'm new to the industry (mid life career change) and just doing some research on the net when I came across the forum. It looks like a great place to discuss ideas and exchange information.
Well done.

Question Re: Welcome .....

I am a woodworker who is interested in learning about the different types of trees around the world. Does anyone have suggested reading materials.

Thank you

Hello Ekka, thankyou for the welcome. I'm a fiercely English Pom and Aussie is a country we've never been to despite extensive far-eastern travel, but we'll get there one day! Incidentally, whenever Chinese, Koreans, Malays etc hear my accent they immediately assume that I'm an Aussie, presumably because I don't have an American accent.

My prime interest is Bonsai, which after many years of interest I have spent only the last year with practicalities. (I've retired, and therefore have the time!)

I need to identify a tree, or maybe its a shrub, that I took cuttings from a couple of years ago in a Devon wildlife park which are growing nicely. The strange thing about the tree is that it was covered in what I can only describe as dandelion "clocks" which were being released to the air in great quantities.

Which forum do you suggest I present the problem to?

Best Regards,

Izzy

Hey Everybody

I'm new to the board here.

I've been working with tree services for about 20 years, and I've been an arborist for 15 or so years.

Before I started I knew about logging, but hardly anything about tree work in the city or what the word arborist, let alone certified arborist, meant. Anyhow once I started working with trees I didn't want to stop.

Today I've got my own small business that makes use of my experience.

Anyhow
