Good luck in the interview. Remember, you are interviewing him just as much as he is interviewing you.

That could start an entire thread. You get some feeling of how he will treat you by the interview. His arb background. Credentials and education. Ask about fellow employees and listen to his attitude. How he feels about trees intrinsically. Where he sees his op going and what potential you have to be part of it. Is he a heavy drinker. Combine that with the stress of ownership and you may have a Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde in front of you. But again don't let him think you are directing the interview or he may feel threatened. Just find stuff out while making him think you are picturing yourself as an asset to his company. Let him think you have other poss options though.

Hope that helps a little. Right now here it is the employee's market. By December it will be the employer's market. Sometimes you just gotta get to work and better employment can be sought while on a lesser job.

thanks,
i had a decent talk to him on the phone, and he comes across as a real professional. they run two man crews, normally 2 Qualified guys, both climb and chip. he would be making an exception for me, because im about half way through, and continuing 1 day a week while working 4 days, he seemed very interested, he said that i would definatly cilmb 1 -3 jobs a week to give the other guy a break, hes not keen on guys climbing 5 days solid, too much risk of fatuige, but mostly groundie guy, they supply all equipments, PPE, Harness ect. in accordance with Occupational Saftey and Health (OSH) Law to have all gear tested and registered (i think).

On line "tree directory" for what? ISA's got a great book catalogue but if it is general knowledge you are seeking, stick around here and ask some questions then challenge the answers you feel are bs, answer some questions AFTER researching your books, etc. and you will learn a ton and have a laugh or two

PS Welcome

Hello all,

Phil here, and as you will notice, have just found and joined the site. Looking forward to gaining some info, and happy to pass on what little I may have!
We operate a tree & palm transplant business based in SE Queensland, and have been doing this work since 1989.
We have high pressure water cutting equippment, a special chain trencher on our Bobcat Loader which will cut at an angle, plus a tree spade for smaller specimens.
We have a very large Palfinger Crane on our truck, and can lift up to 8.0 tonnes in close, with an overall reach of 19.4 meters! At 19 meters the crane will lift 1.2 tonnes!
About 4 years ago, we purchased a Cherry Picker and set it up as a mobile tree spraying unit. We find there is a definite need here in SE Queensland to regularly spray and trim the Canary Island Date Palms, as they are very susceptible to attact from fungus and borer. If anyone needs info about this or any phase of our operation, please ask away!

Phil, what's your business and website? You guys aren't Ace of Spades are you? I referred them this week for a transplant job.

I really only know of Ace and Kings ... you guys must get inundated with requests for buying palms and get there to find cocos!
