Howdy Steve,

How the helcam coming along ... or not?

Did you see that guys ratchet wedge for big chogs, I suppose with those large dia trees over there it'll be handy to get them chogs off the trunk you're on.

helmcams not coming along due to other expenses that need to be prioritized....i have a big technical speedline job coming up with lots of redirects going on, im paying someone to come video that one and im hoping to have the lemcam in operation by then too!
that ratchet looks ok, not sure i'd bother with it though.

Yes it should be cold at the moment, but we had 15 degrees today, no snow, and a nice day for working on trees.

A new start, Thank you for starting the forum Ekka. I hope this is going to really give people a better understanding on the amount of work it takes to maintain trees and to function as a business in this industry.

Iorek,

We currently have two young men from Malmo Sweden playing hockey for our college team.
MSU-Bottineau will be playing in the Junior College National Championship games Mar 2,3,and 4. I think it will be streamed on the internet. When I get the directions I will send them to you. You might know them. I can't recall their names at the moment.

Edit: I just found the names of the hockey players. Niclas Soderberg and Christian Berlin.

Going Good, I guess. A little chilly for the past couple of weeks, but now is getting into the 30's most days, so the sunbathers will be out soon.

Hey everyone,

Well, I'm from little old Scotland, a place where, from what I read here, is very similar to everywhere else when it comes to arboriculture and tree care in general; good treecare, not so good treecare, downright bad treecare!

I try to be one of the good guys.

I hope to put some pictures up of trees and treework from here in Scotland, just as soon as I've worked out how to post photos.

Thanks
T.C.

We say in Sweden if you can not hang with the monkeys then be the monkeys. Translation maybe not right?
I find this treehouse useless place for serious arborists. Sorry if he is your friend but swedish people are honest about these things.
I've joined many forums, but never really persued that one. Not sure why really, as I participate in a wide variety of forums.

The Treehouse has a few sound thinking arborists - for sure - but I think that the posts there, and memberships of several tree workers, will indicate the "aftermath" of some cat fights. A portion of them went there to lick their wounds, I suspect. If they kept the same user names as in other forum websites, you would be able to trace some friction back to the last surge of recorded activity. Happens to some degree on almost any long-time established forum.

For yourself, make yourself at home wherever you feel you are treated with respect, and where you feel comfortable - whether here, or at one of the others, or in several, as I suspect you would enjoy.

And don't feel that you have to agree or otherwise lay low. Heck, Ekka and I don't agree on everything - search some of our posts at a couple of sites, and you'll see.

Hi all finally decided to bite the bullet and join here, to make one thing clear i am a member of the treehouse and the treehouse is my favourite hang out, for pretty much the reasons pointed out in the above posts. As in its not a serious forum, its a place to chill out with other like minded people, but there are those on there that know there stuff and will offer their advice when needed.
We are all different after all, some of us like to have fun some of us take things a bit more seriously, i like to be both.

I love my job, i do it because I have a passion for trees, but i do not expect others to share my passion to the same intensity.

I look forward to participating in the forum when i can, so be civil all!!! I'm not here to take sides.

I like what you've done with the place Ekka

Thats a bit of sweeping generalisation Iorek, don't you think?

How do you quantify something like that?

Are you sure your not a member of the Swedish Royal family?

Your parents may have been wealthy but they obviously never bothered to teach you any manners did they?

Anyway Iorek, if your out there in cyber space watching, call in and say hello.

Just wish I could comprehend some of the other unfortunate goings on,,,, but like i said i'm not here to choose sides,,, i know where my loyalties lie,, i'm just here for the tree talk.

Default Hi

Hi everyone. You all seem like very nice people. I just happened to this site looking for information on knots. I am an engineer that works as a technician on mechanical systems with Navy ships. Some knowledge of knots come in very handy for minor rigging and aligning pipes etc.

I viewed Ekka's video on felling a tree using the side line to guide the tree down and found it very uplifting when the tree fell right on target. I wanted to shout hurrah!!!

So much joy to be found using simple tools and methods that result in such efficiency.

I know only some of the basic knots and can't really share anything new for you guys but I find this site very interesting. I didn't even know this world existed till recently.
