It's blowing pretty strong here now, should blow the smoke away so they can stop whinging. Sydney cloaked by smoke from burn-off Poor buggers can't do anything right. If they don't burn off everyone complains about bushfire danger and when they do burn there's smoke. |

Actually the twister season is almost over here (end of May) and this year has been one of the lightest tornado years in recorded history (in tornado alley). There has been an uptic in activity in April and May, but just to more 'normal' levels. The year started with above-normal activity in January, primarily as a result of a single moderate outbreak late in the month. After that, arctic air settled in across the central and southern United States suppressing warm air to the Caribbean, and as a result, February saw only one isolated tornado as the air mass throughout the month was highly unfavorable for any severe weather development. In early March, predictions for an active tornado season were voiced by meteorologists should the pattern continue as it had during January and February, with El Nino also cited as possibly bringing an above average season. However, March and the first half of April also had well below normal activity and overall the early spring period was among the least active in recent years. Through mid-April, the season had been one of the least active in the historical record. A very large tornado outbreak in late April ended the slow period, pushing April activity to near normal. |

Well, not exactly a tornado but the East Coast is going to cop it severely this weekend by the looks. ![]() We'd best batten the hatches I think. Weather News: Breaking Weather News for Australia |

I totally agree Julie, there's something really stirring about wild water, when you're safe onground and not out in it!! It's so black here this morning I have to have the lights on at 10am in the morning just to see, it looks as though we're in for a wild day. I'm so over the rain, we've had enough! I planted 6 tibouchina trees a week or so ago and I'm scared they're going to float away. ![]() I've had them in pots for awhile as I bought them as seedlings, they're around 5ft high but skinny, I hope they're going to be ok, they look a bit fragile stuck out there. I've got tree guards around them so hopefully that'll help, but that won't do much for the soppy ground. |

We've had steady and heavy rain for 24hrs now, all the graziers around here have been busy moving cattle to higher ground, our back paddocks are under water, probably because we've had steady rain on and off for a week and a half now, plus this pounding we've had since last night. The horses are confined to the top paddock, once they were stuck on an island down the back and I had to swim them across. I near froze to death. The Wallis creek and Tester's Hollow will flood tonight and that'll make things worse, we'll be cut off from town by morning if this keeps up. |
