fyi, there is a new tree care magazine in Russia. Following are are two articles from it that they got from ISA. It's kind of neat to see tree info spread to new places. |

ok here's what it looks like. The first article they got from ISA was the Basic Tree Risk Assessment, next the detective piece on leyland cypress.

Cyrillic script is widely used in the former Soviet Union, the baltic states and Greece. We had fun trying to read street signs in Athens when driving thru. My wife taught me rudimentary Macedonian and the symbols are similar. Sadly the words are entirely different and we ended up lost more times than not... ![]() Had a look at the articles in Russian cyrillic and its the same thing all over again. Good job we have Martin to translate. So Martin you speak/read/write Czech, Russian and English. Dude you must be have a double jointed jaw! |

*Therrin sees a GIRL and perks up immediately* Actually, my g/f is Russian, born in St Petersburg and now is in the Med program at UCLA. If she comes up this weekend I wanna run those articles past her. Should be interesting. When I'm at her place her parents are polite enough to speak in english =) She'll like the girl too. Woohoo! Oh, but of course what I *meant* to say is how wonderfull it is that information of proper tree care is being disseminated to the masses and...stuff like that. Of course. =) |

Well I pulled those articles up on the screen for my g/f's mom tonight and she was reading it to me in Russian and then translating to english. It was pretty interesting. The funny part is that she didnt even know what an "arborist" was or that there were certification levels or anything. She said in Russia she thought people just cut trees and stuff as part of landscaping but didnt know that it could be a profession in and of itself. Interesting... |
