Thumbs up Position Vacant - Tree World - Have you got what it takes?

Members

A unique opportunity for an extremely low paying position has arisen here.

As you all know I am located in Australia with a time difference of up to 18 hours to our USA brothers on the east coast where all the small timber is (unlike the west coast).

What I am throwing out there is the forum needs a moderator for the other part of the day when I'm not here.

So I'm looking for some-one with the following talents ....

1/ An understanding of people, their moods and personalities.

2/ Ability to think logically rather than emotionally (no EMOS here thanks).

3/ Ability to remain impartial and make sound judgements based on facts and evidence rather than opinion and hearsay.

4/ An understaning of Vbulletin is preferable.

5/ A qualification in arboriculture is a must.

6/ Addicted and always online here.

7/ Trusted and ethical, you will see into people souls! And have to keep it to yourself. Well, not quite but sounds good.

8/ An eye for detail.

9/ A nose that can sniff out a troll from 100,000 IP's away.

10/ Ability to communicate in writing to tertiary standards.

10.1/ Ability to fill in reports, log sheets and leave PM's/memos so the other shift knows what went down!

11/ A generally pleasing or neutral status amongst other members.

12/ A passion to make Tree World the leading and premier tree forum and information site on the net.

13/ Accept the fact you will be anonymous in this task and can never tell or boast to anyone but me.

So, you reckon you can step it up to the challenge? PM me then, coz I really do need some-one and succession planning is req'd. If something were to happen to me then you need to keep this site rolling.... and dont go all silly, means a holiday etc, gosh some people!

Salary for this grand task is ZERO!

I would really love to help out Eric but sadly cannot satisfy requirements 4, 5 or 6. You wouldn't want me reccomending WD40 to all the newbies with tree probs.

A rather demanding list of requirements for such a well paid job me thinks..

Anyways, it aint like evra body's gonna start misbehaving evry time your not in the room.

Over here we have Primary school, then high school, then university (college) hence tertiary. In other words good writing skills, many have difficulty writing but not talking.

Some people stare at a blank page for hours and dont know where to start or how to write in sentences, paragraphs etc.

I think this stems from old stigma of anything written being sent back by the teacher with all these red marks and circles and a c- score! If there was grammer scribbled on the column that really threw you out.

So, a reluctance to writing developed for many but simply not so for talking.

However we have left school now and need to write to communicate on these boards. Tertiary students realise that writing is just part of the deal and dont get hung up about it. Also the teacher is more interested in what the message is than hot it is delivered (within reason).

So, doesn't necessarily mean you had to go to uni but means you have to be able to write OK.

Uni is no guarantee of writing skill either; I have seen some dissertations that read like streamofconsciousness blather.

That must have been that hippie class of philosophy or something.

Nope you're way off--everyone fumbles for words now and then, but the philosophizers generally make connections better than the others.

Careful what buttons you push there; I'm a hippie (drugless) and proud.

Not these days mate,

we're all losing our hair (must be the stress of dealing with all these suits man!). Most of the hippies I know have had to shave all their hair off, in order to prevent that "scuffed tennis ball" look....
