| 1 website to be given away Righteo I'm wondering. Who here doesn't have a website but has a business? What I'm going to do, absolutely free of charge, is make you one and host it here.... Merry Christmas ![]() Your website will have a URL like this www.treeworld.info/yourbusinessname.html What's the catch? It's yours. You can take it with you, download it, host it elsewhere, copy it, photocopy it, print it out, show your dog for all I care it's yours. The only thing you cannot do is remove the link to tree world on it, it will be down the bottom, the ole "created by ....." stuff. Ah, skeptical eh? It's gonna be some crappy one right? Not so, it will be pretty darned good and the search engines will love it, but it will be your job to promote it, advertise it etc. What about hosting costs etc? Nil, just no video's on it and a limit in pic files coz that's what kills bandwidth. Image total no more than 500kb for entire site, which is plenty. How many pages? Only 1 because it does get ugly when if there's 3 deep file extensions. But the one page will cover your business well and have all your contact details. What about SEO? Well, it will be SEO'd better than most I see. You'll have to come up with 3 keywords for your business. Those 3 will be the focus. We'll talk about those keywords when the time comes to the lucky winner. What about getting it listed on Google? No problems with that, I'll provide a front page spot for a link till google hits it, that'll be about a day! ![]() What's in it for Ekka? Practice and a hobby, plus I like a challenge to see how well I can get it to rank. I'll feel out your competitors and try to rattle'm some.... that's stuff I do behind the scenes. Can I put it in my Signature? Sure, go right ahead, be pretty useless though if you have no posts! ![]() What if my member name isn't my Business Name etc? Not that there's anything wrong with that but we can change member names without you losing your posts if you want. Conditions? Well you have to be a member, have a valid email address, phone and business name etc. In other words you gotta be fair dinkum, this is the real deal. Your member email address will be the one used and that prevents duplicate members. So, simply post here, just say I'm in and that's enough. On Christmas day here we'll draw the names and see who wins. You have nothing to lose. Get ya mates, and others to join and have a go.

| Websites are good electronic brochures too, just send your clients there when they want to check you out. You can have your qualifications on there, experience, equipment, even your dog if you like.

| Ekka... So if you accidentally pull two pieces of paper out at the same time by accident on the first draw, do both names get one? There ought to be dozens of people who should enter on this one, if word gets around and they realize the real value of a website. I went for years, and a landscaper who I did a favor for, had one done for me. It's unimaginable now, what it would have been like, had that not occured and I just continued without one. Anyhow, mine was a favor in the beginning, and what a great favor that was. ![]() |

| Happy holidays to all, I have been lurking on here since the site fired up, and I believe this site is one of the premiere ones on the net. There doesn't seem to be the ridicule factor that another site has, and I am sure that the members will benefit from the discussions. Ekka, I think you've come up with a good idea to bring the lurkers off of the sidelines, but I think the site offer should go to someone in the southern hemisphere. Keep up the good work!!!

However, this is a very important point, it will work better for USA members because the board is run in USA with a USA IP address. Tree Dimensional, forums are funny things, I must admit I too at times can go overboard and the line between fun and offence can be crossed easily when dealing with text. Some studies were made into this by universities and the same message face to face with the same words is comprehended and understood easily and differently. Thanks for your kind words.

| Ekka, Point taken, when typing comments it is almost impossible to add OUR personalities, that being said, diplomacy in type is always the best course. About the secord year that I was a ISA certified arborist, I was offered an opportunity to represent one of the positions as director for Saskatchewan to the Prairie Chapter of the ISA, my two year term was filled with the wonderful experiences and introductions to all sorts people not only within the Chapter but also people that are prominent internationally. One of the things that I learned off-the-bat was there are three types of people in the tree care industry, buracrats, technocrats, and sweating people. I come from the third group, and believe that we all have to co-exist, and we all have something to offer. One of the quotes that I try and live by is "if you can, HELP, and if you can NOT help at least DO NOT harm". As far as the IP address, I happen to be a Canadian from the great white north. Along with the fact that I herld from west-central Saskatchewan, where I can watch my dog run away for three days (not many tree,But where we have them they can grow to 130 feet), I find that the field of arboriculture is alot more rewarding than a field of hard red spring wheat. I am unfortunatley fairy isolated from competition in my area, the next closet tree care company is over 90 miles away. While this is good for business, it leaves a lot to be desired as far as interaction with other working arborists. Sites like yours fill the void of isolation, and keep us all aware of the things that are going on the the tree world. I would like to think that we can all contribute in some same way, and I would like to take this opportunity to say, THANK-YOU... B

| You should show some pics, must be a blanket of snow now. How do you go working on trees then with a crew, or you solo etc?
