| Jason your best bet is to hire a pro.DO NOT ATTEMPT THAT TREE YOUR SELF.YOU CAN BE KILLED.

| Jason, Thanks for posting. My advice to you is twofold... Find a local climber and hire him to do it. Make sure it's someone who's at the very least insured. Liscenced and running a business or already working for a company would be great. You don't want to tackle that on your own, especially not without training and equipment. It *IS* a confined area, and you're thinking about it wrong. You shouldn't think as "what's as little damage I can get away with". The way to think is "how can I get this done properly, with NO damage at all?" Since you haven't shown a picture far enough back, we can't see just what kind of a confined space it is. I wouldn't even attempt to give you advice on doing the actual job. It's dangerous, could prove to be fatal, or at the very least, leave you with costly repairs. Please find someone qualified, even find a couple quotes if you want, and be willing to shell out a little bit for a propper job.

| i have done this before, in front of the tree is a bush and some plants , so i was thinking if take off the branches over the roof first, then move on to the main part of the tree, taking little sections at a time and have them fall south of the house where it will hit the bush. he said just as long as it doesnt hit the house we will be fine. i have plenty of room south of the house. im just going to trim the bush in front of the house first to give me more work room. and take off piece by piece. |

| You said you have no climbing gear, so how do you intend to do it?

| Sounds like you have it worked out, just pull the branches away from the house. Set a rope high and make the right cut.

| yeah i have a 100ft rope, and i dont care if i mess the fence up, just not the house, have a few weeks before he wants me to make a stab at it, so im just thinking it out carefully, and avoid any mistakes, so im not going to rush nothing. just take little by little off till i have a clear shot at the main branch itself. and great vids on youtube!! looks fun and scary. thanks -jason |

| Hello Jason and welcome, Your enthusiasm is great to see. I would have to agree with Therrin though where he said to get a local pro in. You could work as a groundie for him and split costs. He would have equipment and do it MUCH faster with NO damage (hopefully!). The experience you would get in that short time will assist you greatly with other jobs to come. Keep your eyes and ears open and take it all in. You will be exposed to techniques you may have never thought of. I myself often find different ways of doing things with Ekkas videos or those on you tube etc (Some how NOT to do it!!!). Dont want to sound like your mum, but remember PPE! With NO damage to the house or bushes the you may find that you are referred by the owner with a good name. Great! Free advertising. But if you break something it can really work against you. If you feel confident and get some gear, at least have someone there with you. Good luck and look forward to hearing the outcome. |
