I recall a Rodney Dangerfield comedy some years ago. The character he plays is an experienced builder who returns to college to gain some recognized qualification. When a lecturer draws out the cost of a building Dangerfield laughs and says his price is 50% under true cost. He then tells the lecturer and the class that you need to allow another 25% for kickbacks and 25% for union bribes because that is the "reality" of construction in a big city. I see a correlation in this story. If you are a developer with tens of millions of dollars on the line, having a minor official dismissed for highlighting your shoddy practices is simply par for course. At 64 I don't fancy his chances of being rehired by the same beurocracy that fired him. |

Probably happens all the time, people just don't know, bet it's one of the first news articles about doing a good job as a "tree auditor" and getting fired for it ... |

Sounds like some foul play here. All the more reason why we need to keep spreading the truth about treecare so we help ensure arborists like Mr. coffin stay employed and hacks and cowboys get out of the industry.

Just so everyone knows I have invited Tom Coffin here to Tree World (I think) via email. Took abit to track him but I think I found the right guy. So hopefully we'll hear from him soon and he can shed some more light on this subject.
