Nudge nudge wink wink say no more. Seems the vegetation manager of Great Lakes Energy was great mates with G & J Tree Inc .... how did the scam work? Just submit invoices for work never done and perhaps get the inside man to sign them off OK to pay (but of course that's being denied by the inside man). I know that stuff is illegal and corrupt on behalf of the power company, but seriously how stupid, you've got this bloke (power company) in your (tree company) pocket going to give you all the work you want, as if he was so stupid NOT TO COMPLETE THE WORK. Seriously what a greedy fat wank.

I know this thread is very old but i wanted to comment. This particular company is one that i refer to as: TREE RAPERS. Their job was to cut back tree tops and limbs 15 feet from power lines. What they did was just cut the whole side of the tree that faced the power lines. When they got to my property i stood outside and forced them to approve every limb that was cut and how far from the trunk they were allowed to cut. They became so enraged that they called Great Lakes Energy to complain. I invited the Supervisor out to my house to 'negotiate' each limb. The supervisor refused and threatened to call the Sherriff. I then said that i would call every one who ever loved a tree to come and help me negotiate the amount of limbs cut. What would of taken 30 minutes to do under their rules turned into a 3 hour event. I was able to have the trees return to fullness in two seasons as opposed to everyone else on my road who will NEVER see limbs or leaves on one side of their trees. G&J Tree Service is nothing more than a bunch of guys with chain saws who rape trees for their profit. Nothing more or nothing less. |

oH man, if you tried that down here most people would tell you where to go. 15ft may be the clearance but what you aren't thinking about is how long the pruning cycle is, you have to clear extra for that. You don't get a say in how far the trees are cleared from the powerlines, you just take it like a man, not a girl. If its a council tree, you should just leave them be, if its a tree on your property, you should have thought harder before planting a tree under powerlines... Sure some of the clearances can make your tree look pretty bad and you do feel it when doing the job, but its a million times more annoying when the resident comes out to try and stop you from the doing you are paid to do. Go complain to the power regulator about their clearance requirements. |

Thats the best part about being a man.....you dont have to just take it like a man. There is no way i am just going to roll over like a puppy dog and let big business tell me what to do on my property. With that said.....i know its important to keep limbs away from powerlines.....that was never the issue. The bottom line of one sided tree limb removal down to the trunk was the objection. Now heres the kicker......since the power company decided to TRY to run over me with a few feet of limbs, i decided that one person can bring a powerful electric company to its knees. By the time i was done with them it cost them over 3.2 million dollars in improvements down my road in new lines and sub station improvements. Being a man means not being intimidated by big Corporations and some wimp with a chainsaw. ![]() Take that like a man! |

Props on making the electrical company upgrade their lines, thats a legit miracle there. If the trees are on your property you are better off hiring a contractor yourself to prune it back the way you want instead of a power company contractor who prunes to spec and in most cases just hacks a box around the powerlines and leaves the branches for you to dispose of.
