Post Baulkham Hills NSW| Blind leading the Blind

You now, I get tired of listening to and reading utter rubbish.

We have a council that has gone about pruning some trees, for a legitimate reason, and pretty much to AS4373. From the pictures I can see the cuts match the objective and all is pretty much OK.

But along comes some griping resident, nothing new in that.

But then along comes some ignorant councillor supporting the resident, united we now have two ignorants talking trash that makes the newspaper. Now this resident and few supporters (equally ignorant) want to sue the council, they claim "the council is out of it's tree" ... based on what? Their ignorance!

Here, read the story.

Hills Shire Council 'is out of its tree' - Council - News - Hills Shire Times

Quote:

BAULKHAM Hills residents are considering taking legal action against Hills Shire Council for severely cutting back trees in Gooden Reserve.

About 15 tallowood trees on the reserve had their limbs lopped by council workers on June 16.

Cr Raymond Harty said the council should be held accountable for their actions.

He said he was outraged to see the limbs cut back very high up, apparently for no good reason.

“It’s hypocritical for us to criticise Integral Energy for what they do to trees when we do the same thing or, in this case, worse,” he said.

Cr Harty said the council should apply the same standards to themselves that they set for others.

Resident Richard Rivas said the appearance of the reserve had been significantly degraded.

“It’s hypocritical - council are supposed to be protecting our trees,” he said.

“They might have needed a trim but this is completely overdone.”

Mr Rivas is one of about 12 residents considering legal action against the council.

“We’re not sure because council will probably find a way around it,” he said.

A council spokeswoman said the work carried out, known as crown lifting, removed lower branches that caused obstruction and stopped light getting through.

She said this allowed more planting beneath the trees, encouraged grass growth and improved visibility to reduce vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

“Unlike work carried out by Integral Energy’s contractors, the crown lifting did not reduce the height or shape of the crown of the trees, nor will it affect the tree’s future growth,” she said.

General manager Dave Walker inspected the trees and agreed to plant some more.

Mr Rivas said grass did not need to grow beneath the trees because they were at the edge of the park.

“In my opinion what they have done is vandalism,” Mr Rivas said.

Mr Rivas, in my opinion what you have done is shown the world your limited intellectual capacity and ability to research the facts.

Cr Raymond Harty, in my opinion you do not deserve a spot on council, you are supposed to be a leader not a follower of fools. Anything for a vote perhaps eh.

And the media that reported this, get an expert to advise and get the facts so that rather than reporting crap you can iron out a few time wasters.

Some people are just too stupid for their own good. Stupidity like this really gets my nerves going. Especially the part about the residents sueing the council for pruning council trees... HELLO!? The trees aren't yours...

They don't look like the Tallowood Eucalyptus microcorys we get up here! Indeed it does seem like an overreaction considering what you can see in that photo.
They should come up here to the Goldie, and have a look at some lion's tailed Pandanus in some of our parks....

It's ironic really, the same resident who complained about the the crown lift would sue if he had his eye poked out by a low hanging limb....or if his daughter was raped because the trees were blocking out the parks lights at night....blind leading the blind is a good heading for this thread, talk about going off half cocked !

I know those trees so I called around today. I can see what they are on about, not much wrong with them from what I can remember.

I have a screen shot of before, just not sure how to post it yet.

Maybe NAAA members pruned them?

.... they did step cuts, bit close to the finishing cut which they never did (the finishing cut that is)

If the cuts were finished correctly, which they still can be, all is OK

Most of the smaller cuts are ok, but the 4th pic is a mess.

This is as big as I can get this one to load.

Google maps: 2 Kanili Ave, Baulkham Hills.

looks to me like they have given the trees a more upright form and tidied them, ok the cuts arent finished, but that can be easliy rectified.
bloody curtain twitchers that have nothing better to do with thier time than have a shot at someone, when they dont know a thing about correct pruning or correct tree maintenance.
dear sir wind your neck in, you do not know anything about this industry that is clear and the councellor who came galloping to his side you should check your facts before putting the other foot in your mouth.
