Default Arboreal Obstacle Courses| Aerial Playgrounds in Trees

Aerial adventures: where family pride grows on trees - Telegraph

Quote:
Known variously as aerial adventures and tree-top trekking, these play areas boast all manner of obstacles and amusements for children and adults alike. Attractions include wobbly rope bridges, footpaths 50ft off the ground and "zip-lines", where you are attached to a cable on a pulley and slide between trees.

When I arrive at the Woodhill Forest site, approximately 35 minutes north-west of Auckland City, groups of people are milling around in safety helmets and harnesses, but I see nothing of the park’s play-adventure tree activities. That’s because I haven’t looked up yet.

This video is well worth a look.

Looks like great stuff, be a nice niche to work in setting them up then testing them out.

I did the Woodhill high ropes course with a girlfriend. While it was an out-of-body experience for her and quite scary, as an arborist I found it pretty tame. I guess I'm just used to clipping on and swinging out.

Heaps of fun to do with kids though.

We have been working on the set up of a new one of these in Belgrave in the Dandenong Ranges for the last month.

This one utilises an incredible variety of tree species, native & exotic, including large National Trust Registered trees.

Stay tuned, I will update with more info when it opens.
