Default Advertising on Tree World

Tree World forum has been uniquely Search Engine Optimized. It has some very good features I am yet to find on others. Having pressed a number of websites to top spots in Google I know what it takes and how it works.

All links in the forum have been tagged "rel=nofollow" which simply means search engines generally wont pass on any ranking benefits to your sites. Part of advertising here means that can and will be lifted for URL's.

All links dropped in the forum will automatically default to the page title, extremely powerful stuff for search engines, yes it can be over ridden to read whatever you like too.

3 PDF documents are attached which show January 2008 statistics including search engine traffic. These are real people visiting the site not trumped up "hits" from mouse overs resulting in figures that calculators have difficulty fitting in their screens.

Of special note is the time they spend on the site and number of pages they view. It would be near impossible for any website to cover all the potential keyword possibilities pertaining to searches people run to get here. Note that approximately 1/3 of traffic driven to Tree World is from new searches. If people find us, then they'll find you!

3 Advertising Options Available

1/ There's 6 spots on the top of the page available for advertising your site (providing it's not a forum)

These appear on the forums home page:- www.treeworld.info

The individual forum pages :- ANNOUNCEMENTS - Tree World

And the individual thread pages like you are viewing now

You get that position plus site wide links enabled to the URL advertised. That means if you carry that URL in your signature or post it anywhere in the forum the rel=nofollow will be lifted.

The spot can fit a gif etc up to 120px wide and height 60px linking to your URL.

The spots are available on a monthly basis, to be paid for in advance, currently $30/month Australian Dollars. Simply PM or email me Tree World - Contact Us

-------------------

2/ The Sponsors - Links forum is HTML enabled which allows a little more flexibility in presentation. Again those advertisers wishing to take a thread out need to contact me, threads are moderated prior to being published. This section is available for both members and guests, in other words you dont have to be on the forum to advertise there.

Again the URL featured in the ad will be site wide enabled. Here's the tricky part, you pay for every URL released and for every thread you start.

That means for example, if Bandit only ever advertises the one URL (quite the normal thing to do) he pays only once for the URL being enabled.

Then for every thread he starts he pays for that alone as the URL is live.

Cost of URL enabling is one off $50 per 6 months
Cost of each thread you start is $25 and stays for life.

This also lifts the rel=nofollow in your signature.

So your first one will be $75 and then on $25 unless you advertise more than one URL domain. This advertising is more suited or designed for dealers, equipment traders etc, not the one off tree guy selling an item.

---------------------

3/ There's one more simple option left. URL's in members signatures or dropped anywhere etc can be enabled for all posts. Price for that is $50 every 6 months. Simply means the "rel=nofollow" tag will be lifted.

This would be great for members who have a sum of posts and carry links to their own sites in their signatures.

In a nutshell, text links are great for SEO benefits for your own site.

As you can all see the top 6 spots of banners are all taken.

In fact we had more wanting a spot than spots available.

Some advertisers took 12 months up front to secure their spot.

I don't really want to create more spots and flood the place with banners, also I feel there are other ways to advertise here still being under utilized, that's the sig links and Sponsors Thread.

Regarding the 6 banner spots there's two ways I can go.

1/ A waiting list, put your name down.

2/ A bidding system, when a spot comes up you bid for it, highest bidder gets it.

Problem with both methods is existing people giving up their spot unless of course they don't renew.

Now Google Adwords etc doesn't care for length of tenure, highest payer gets to the top regardless how long you have been around. So I'm going to adopt that approach and say when renewal time comes the spot will be up for bidding with the bids starting at $30/month.

I have contacted all advertisers to inform them of this and offer a maximum 12 month advance purchase after which time renewal will be based on a bidding system.

Advertisers who continue by monthly transaction will be subjected to the bidding system commencing April 2008, so it gives them time to buy advance advertising or prepare for the bidding system. Obviously the reserve price is $30/month.

So in a nutshell any advertising falling due in April 2008 and onwards will be subjected to the bidding system.

This is evolution, sure months ago we didn't have this problem however we have been around a while now and you all know the place, how it's run and what direction or goal we aim for.

It's not a money grab but a fair market system. Behind the scenes I help advertisers plenty to making most their gif's, wording ads etc, dont get help like that for free anywhere else. We watch for trolls, clean threads up and offer an ethical place for people to talk ... regardless of their opinions as long as they stay civil and factual.

Any questions etc please post it here.... dont be shy.

Which makes them into paid links - something that Google is actively trying to exclude from its search results. They even request people to report paid links, so they can exclude them and improve their exclusion algorithms. There's a section of the Google webmaster tools for this purpose.

But i won't tell if you don't!

Your wrong, their focus is places where the sole purpose is paid links, like directories where every listing is a paid link ... link farms.

All sites have links, banners, ads and Google themselves sell paid links, called Adwords.

So report away, nothing will change.

Rel=nofollow is on all outbound links here unless arrangements are made to remove it. So in essence what you are saying is that if they all were normal links without that screen Google would value the forum greater? But which way is it likely to be the bigger link farm?
