Default 25 February 2007 Tree World monthly update

All members should have received this email which was sent out yesterday ....
Quote:
It was 25th January that TreeWorld went live on the Internet.

We now have 104 members and some great content, information and friendships being made.

I take this time to thank you for being a member and supporting the forum, whether that be by posting or reading it doesn't matter as it all equates to returning and growing with us.

A pot of gold has been discovered for those with chippers and the myth of pruning trees to reduce water usage has also been exposed ...
there's many more to read and certainly more to be posted.

A small Google advertising banner is now in place at the very bottom of every page. This falls in line with our funding ideas as we want to raise funds without donations from members or having sponsors. We want
this to be a totally independent site free for all to use.

On that note if you have tree industry products you wish to advertise then PM or email me and we can discuss how we go about it to give you maximum exposure and longevity without recurring costs ... in other words your ad stays "alive" as long as the forum does, no monthly dues etc.

Once again, thank you for supporting TreeWorld, and in return the forum will be a valuable tool for the aboriculture industry.

Sincerely
Eric Frei aka Ekka
If you didn't receive it just go to your user cp and make sure your email address is correct and also that it's not in your junkmail file.

I was encouraged to write a monthly update of what I was thinking about by a member ... something many sites seem to lack is an overall picture from the admin of what they think and where they're going.

OK, so here's the real deal.

At the beginning of setting up TreeWorld I rented the software for a 50% discount price not knowing if the idea would work or not, figured better off walking away from half is better than all. But about a week ago I paid for the other half so the software is fully owned, this is not rent a board. So we're here to stay and that's because of you guys. The hosting and domain is paid for too, so we are rock solid. I also have some of the world's best IT and SEO guys to help in the back room stuff, it was one of them who added the blog.

The past month has content that's unbelievable. I know I opened up my secret stash and certainly so have a few others. My goal is to have as many of the scientific papers as possible all linked or loaded here so it's an easy reference point. You guys that are here now will be tomorrows librarians lol directing noobs to documents so they can have their questions answered.

The Video and Picture forums have the same potential.

The key to getting the site working hard for us is in the titles wording. So for you thread starters out there really make those thread titles keyword accurate. For example, "dropped this leaner" is all good for us but a home-owner would more likely search Google for felling leaning trees so if you see me touch up a few titles here and there it's purely to get keyword results for search engines. I'll tend to do this more for important threads ... so a thread about lace up boots vs pull up boots wont really matter for me.

I've also had 3 members request a non tree forum to chat about other stuff with fellow tree guys. Now I'll do that but NO POLITICS or RELIGION , that's right, we'll leave that to other sites.

Default I am back!

Well Ekka, I have been out of conection for a while down in Venezuela visiting relatives ( mother turning 100 years old and I could not miss that since you only get to do it every 100 years, hehehe). I am reading the "old" posts from Feb. Great site as usual and timely info. Thanks for all your efforts.
