Tree Trimmer Rescued From Electrified Tree - News Story - WHIO Dayton

Luckily this guy didn't climb down her his ass would have been toast.
Quote:
KETTERING, Ohio -- Kettering fire and police crews had to rescue a man from a tree in Kettering Saturday afternoon.

The man works as a tree trimmer and was working on some branches in the 2000 block of Mirimar Street near Brookview Avenue when he knocked a branch onto a working power line.

The power line electrified and heated the tree, and police said if the man would have tried to climb down, he would have been electrocuted.

He then had to wait for Dayton Power & Light to come to the scene and turn off the primary power before leaving the tree.

No one was injured, and the man was able to climb out of the tree safely.

Well, if this guy had cut it off instead of tear cutting or dicking around with it he would have just knocked the lines out, but for the tree to be energized he did a shit cut which didn't sever the branch from the tree, unless of course he did cut it off and it lay across the wires and touched the tree, but I think not.

I wonder if he got billed for the outage etc?

Here in live oak if you did a stupid stunt like that, you would be fined a minimum off 1500 bucks.Power lines are not to be treated casually.

in my early years of climbing I did not pay attention to the proximity of some uninsulated power lines. I was cutting some larger epicormic shoots off the trunk and sure enough one of them layed across and then proceeded to fall off those same lines. stupid, stupid, stupid. The way I realized that they were there was the unusual electric sensations that ran through my shoulder(the branches were touching my shoulder and the lines at the same time) I was so blessed to not have my eyes blown out of my head.

CAN ANYBODYSAY PRE TRIP INSPECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. looking back I have had so many close ones. I guess its those close ones that have actually helped me to understand the inherent and unforeseen dangers in our industry.
