Oakland County Sheriff's deputy dies in tree-trimming accident | detnews.com | The Detroit News

An off-duty Oakland County Sheriff's deputy died Monday afternoon in a tree-trimming accident at home, police said.

A neighbor said the deputy was working with a chainsaw about 15 feet above his yard about 2:15 p.m. when a large branch snapped, somehow causing a safety harness to "pin his neck against the tree," said Police Lt. Michael Lyczkowski.

The neighbor alerted the man's wife, who called 911.

Emergency personnel on the scene found the man tangled in ropes, unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at Beaumont Hospital, Troy.

An autopsy is expected to be performed by the Oakland County medical examiner.

The deputy, who has not been named, was a 13-year veteran and assigned to an Oakland Township substation, police said.

incredibly sad but unfortunately not the last until every chainsaw comes with training.

I can't remember the guys name, but Ekka had posted a thread about him, and how dangerous he was. (I think it was something about angeled back cuts, with the Village Expert. If I'm wrong, please correct me) having videos, of how to do a job, and how easy it looks, even though it is not a safe way to do things, for people to get information from the INTERNET, and without going onto a website like this one here, to ask recommendations, of safety, and how to do it safely, the job can, or could be done.
I have a few trees, that I'm afraid of, because they are leaning to wards hydro lines, that are close by. But once the leaves are off the trees, I'll be posting pictures here, and going into detail of the situation of the tree, which way it is leaning asking for advice, from you guys, on how to fell it safely.
