Default NZ man gets fed to a chipper by accident

Man trapped in woodchipper calls wife to say he's dying

A Christchurch man phoned his partner and mother of his children to tell her he loved her when he thought he was going die after he got his arm trapped in a woodchipper machine's conveyer belt.

The father of three, who wishes to remain anonymous, thought he was goner and that the heavy machinery would chop him to pieces.

"He said 'I'm f*****, I'm f*****, I'm sorry and I love you," his friend said of the awful call he made on Tuesday.

Miraculously the man survived when his trapped arm stopped the conveyor belt from working.

He was trapped for nearly two hours before emergency services were able to pull his arm out of the machine.

At Christchurch Hospital he had surgery to remove his mangled arm from the elbow down.

The South Brighton resident was working at a greenwaste plant near Motukarara when the accident occurred about 4pm on Tuesday.

He was about to turn the machine off when he tripped and his arm was caught in the conveyer belt, TVNZ reports.

Believing he had no chance of surviving, he called his partner before dialling 111.

While devastated about the loss of his right arm, the man is reportedly in good spirits and joked about needing to visit some second-hand shops

It seems odd, if he had time to make phone calls, he didn't have time to pull his arm free.

Twas thinkin the same, till known the how n why I holdin my thoughts as you gotta feel bad for his loss. Still he seems to have a good sense of humour.

Right arm was trapped leaving the left free. Likely the free arm could not do much other than use the phone.

You can be stuck in such a way that you are unable to free yourself .... seen the movie 127 Hours.
