About 20 years ago, or so, a guy I went to school with, lost his Dad while felling a tree. Apparently he was cutting down a tree alone in the bush, when his chain saw ran out of fuel, as he was attempting to fell the tree. He left the tree, to get fuel for the chain saw, turned his back, and the tree fell on top of him, killing him. When the guy I went to school with, got home from work, it was dark. His Mother was worried, so he went to look for his Dad. He found the tractor, so he started looking around to see where his Dad was. He could track his Dad, because of the light skift of snow, and eventually came upon the felled tree. He looked around, and found a leg sticking out from underneath the tree. He jumped on the tractor to get help. The authorities came in, and did an investigation, and determined that the chain saw was out of fuel, figured that his Dad went to fuel the chain saw up, turned his back, when the tree was on it's way down, and crushed him. While growing up here on the farm, and Dad teaching me how to properly operate a chain saw, always drilled it into me, to always know how much fuel was in the chain saw, especially when it came to felling a tree. Before I attempt felling a tree, since the guy I went to school with, lost his Dad, I always make sure the chain saw is right full of fuel. and bar oil, before I start to fell the tree. I try hard, not to be one of the statistics, while running a chain saw, felling a tree. Bruce.
