Default Florida tree trimmer rescued| electric shock

In this larger picture you can see the wires beneath the guy, bundled and coated. Here you are not permitted to work within 3m of that and even if you get certified it goes down to 1m. If the wires are in contact with the tree then the whole tree is a NO GO ZONE.

Fire crews help remove trimmer from tree

Fire crews were called to help remove a tree trimmer from a tree after he reported feeling tingling sensations near a power line.

Rockledge Fire Department crews were called about 1:30 p.m. Monday to the 900 block of Bellaire Lane in a residential area, just west of Murrell Road, officials said.

The unidentified man, who works for a private tree-trimming company, was about 15 to 20 feet off the ground, officials said.

"He's fine," Rockledge Fire Department spokeswoman Lori Matson said. "He didn't get a major jolt. He said he just felt a tingling sensation and stopped working."

Tree trimmers frequently are called to remove tree limbs and other brush away from power cords, officials point out.

Florida Power & Light Co. crews were called to the area to ensure that power was off line before the man was removed.

Why is it that my second post after being away is sooo tempted to call NG on his dumbassery? i mean, doing something stupid, and posting it, are two different things...

*sigh* some things will never change.

Oh cmon,he had eye protection on,you don't serious wear chaps when climbing do you?I'd damn near cook in this heat.Hard hats are good for the ground and most tree work but when climbing i like to keep my gear as minimal as possible so i don't get heat stroke.

NG please dont go there again! you know you get a kick everytime this comes up. look i wear hard hat, glasses, chainsaw boots, chainsaw trousers everyday not because im clumsy, just because of "just in case" and local, national and international guideline as do thousands of others.
that guy is in the wrong in sooooo many ways, it also looks unprofessional to the customers and future clientel which is what most people forget.
if you saw two crews working in a street one with no ppe the other kitted up looking the business, which do you honestly think the potential client would choose to approach?
whether they work the same or not being involved in a professional setup lifts the work spirits and feelings of the workers too, the team i work with have lifted thier game considerably, because i insist they wear ppe and look and act professionally and they now care a whole lot more for the customers and visual appearance of the company.

Actually its pretty common to work like that in Florida, some of us don't want heat stroke. Also some of us are production climbers who have to have at least 2-4 trees down everyday.Oh and i'm certified line clearance in Suwanee county now

And what happens if my throw line goes over a power line? Will i get zapped? I know osha will make visits to line clearance operations, and if ppe is not enforced, fines will be given. How much are thoses fine? You're in the know now, so keep us updated.

I climb...let me repeat, climb 25-28 palms in a six hour period. That's production down here, and I use all the ppe. No heat stroke, and I'm 51 years old. No excuss not to wear ppe. On Monday 22nd I cleaned 25 palms in 4.5 hours. That's moven baby.

Depends on te lines,if the throwline is wet and other factors but if it happens then try and pull the end without the weight over carfully.

Hell yeah that's moving,i choose what to do and what i determine is an acceptable risk,to each his own.I specialize in risky removal and pride myself in doing what others in my area deem to dangerous or to risky.

OK, here it's 1m ... and that includes coated service drops.

That also includes swing ins or any pieces distance from the wire.
