sounds like a bad case of shock and denial, you never realise just how bad an injury is til you get to medical workers, adrenaline numbs the pain and if its deep he could have cut a major nerve. we all have egos to some extent but if your injured you should get out of the tree and get it looked at straight away im talking from experience thats what happened when i had my accident last feb thought i was ok but had split my kneecap in half. all the best to his family and loved ones a sad case that could have been avoided.

I remember once crushing a thumb pretty badly (full Violet Crumble on the bone!), ripping the nail bed out and crushing the nerves. As soon as the accident happened, my emergency services training kicked in, I started first aid etc. and made my way to help. Then the shock kicked in. Now I'd seen the thumb 5mm thick when I pulled it out of the machine... but once the shock kicked in I was telling the radiologist that wasn't broken! She just showed me the x-rays and watched me trying to count the bone fragments. I've been injured in work accidents a few times (not for some years now praise God) and can handle pain pretty well, but I've also had to learn to recognise when I'm going into shock and severe pain with blood loss will do that pretty quickly. When in shock you just don't see things clearly. I reckon that's what killed this guy. Went into shock quick and couldn't see how bad things really were. |

Sayonara Daniel Antrobus! It is an ongoing reminder for us all, not to take what we do for granted! Always work with someone on hand if you can, if not, keep that Mobile handy for an Emergency call! Just incase. ![]() Farawaytree. |
