Cleveland man dies in tree accident

Quote:
A local businessman died Tuesday afternoon while removing a tree from property in Hickory Hills. The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m.
Bradley County Fire Rescue officials along with Bradley County Emergency Medical Service responded to a home in Hickory Hills where a large tree was being removed. When they arrived, they found a boom truck, which was being used to stabilize and move a large portion of the tree, had toppled onto its side, trapping John Robert Johnson, 48, under the truck, according to witness statements which were given to Bradley County deputies at the scene.
Johnson Tree Service officials had been cutting a tree and the boom truck which the tree was being lifted, toppled onto Johnson.
Johnson died at the scene, according to reports.
Investigation into the freak accident is being conducted by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
Evie West of the Cleveland Police Department also assisted at the scene.

*agrees* Hardly a freak accident. sad though.

Is it likely that the outriggers busted/bent and it flipped, or that they acted as a fulcrum?

*also agree* looks like the out rigger was barely extended, id like to hear more of the story or the outcome of the investigation.

Not only a possibility of the out rigger broke, or bent, ground could have given way, if it was close to a drainage ditch, or possibly the out rigger sunk in the ground enough, to cause the truck to tip over.
Believe me, it doesn't take much to tip, or roll a truck. Very sad to hear that this happened. Bruce.
