Default what is this spikey tree???

this tree (possibly virgilia or african acacia) is in a relies backyard in Inverell NSW.

it has pinnate leaves, bipinnate juvinile foliage, seed pods like a jacaranda, and aggresive spikes all over.

a good one for the next climbing comp- seperate the men from the boys, and the limbs from the body.

any ideas?????

it may be a gleditsia but sure it isn't the common honey locust (tricanthos).

Not sure if it's Honey Locust.

But those are one of my least favorite trees here, as most are a tangled mess, and the branching develops so sporadically sometimes.

I think you're right, I jumped in a bit early, I think it is Acacia Giraffea going by the picture, but could be Acacia karroo. Also I think the bark is different to gleditsia.

If the tree I worked on is still there, [it was a few years ago], I'll have a closer look.
