Thanks for helping to id this tree. It was here when we moved in and are looking to know more about it before we decide where it will be moved. It also has white flowers that appear for a couple of weeks each year. Usually around July. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

looks like a white Hibiscus syriacus. Or something similar in the Malvaceae family. good one growing it in Canada!

I agree, Rose of Sharon. Can typically tolerate a fair bit of shade, so sun from any direction is ok - even a northern exposure. Tends to propagate easily once established, normally is trimmed in the spring for summer flowers (on new wood), and although this year the cycles are off by about a month, Rose of Sharon usually flowers mid to late August, and into September. Grows well in warm zone 5 or warmer. |
