Default What kind of seedling is this?

Hello, I recently found this little seedling growing in a pot outside on the porch. Is it an oak? I got the pot with another plant in it from somebody who moved. Maybe she put an acorn in there? If it is an oak what kind? Any way thanks for your help on this.

I would have said it was a Quercus Cerris, short stalk on the leaf, no rear facing lobes.
In order to grow a strong long lived tree you will need to start pruning it early to encourage a strong leader, oaks have a decurrent growth habit.
Avoid co dominant branches(ones that are over half the diameter of the main leader) and prune apropriately, imagine how the tree is going to look in 5 to 20 years time,Ideally prune once in year one, twice in year two and three and you should develop a good strong tree for the future.
Remove as little live foilage as possible at each pruning stage this will keep the damage and stress on the tree to a minimum.
Hope this helps

It's an oak, not sure about the species.

Aye, the cups that hold the acorn slightly resemble Turkish hats.. Do not make the tree rely on the stake too much, you want to encourage root growth as a priority, this is much increased if tree is allowed to sway about a bit with the wind.. All the best.
