I wanted to plant a dense, golden leaf deciduous tree, like a golden robinia but with a denser "head" on the tree. I would like the regular foliage to be golden or very light green (like the golden robinia), not just the autumn/fall foliage. A large mop top robinia if I could get it in golden form would be perfect. I live in subtropical region of Australia that will tolerate temperate region trees. As many suggestions or ideas as possible would be greatly appreciated! |

Golden catalpa, Catalpa bignonioides 'Aurea', fits most of your requirements although the texture is coarse rather than fine. Black locust, Robina pseudoacacia, also has an 'Aurea' cultivar as do many others, thus a search of the cultivar names that mean golden may help if there is a lack suitable suggestions.

Thanks Eden keeper. Have searched the net for more details and I agree, it looks like a perfect choice. I've been searching for something suitable for ages without any luck. THANK YOU!
