Default Unknown tree in Maryland

I have lived in this home for 5 1/2 years and always wondered what kind of tree I have. My neighbors tell me it was planted as as shrub but has since grown to be at least 20 feet (~6m) tall. It has a LOT of delicate white blossoms that each produce a small nut slightly larger than pea size, but smaller than marble size. The tree is in excellent health, I am just curious about what kind of tree it is. All of the "Identify trees by leaf" efforts I have undertaken don't seem to help; perhaps one of you fine folks can?

I have attached photos for assistance in identification. Please let me know if more are needed or if there is any information I have not included that is necessary.

Thank you,

immies

Hello immies,
From the looks of your photos, I would say the tree in question is a
Carolina Silverbell (Halesia carolina). It is a tree and there are several varieties
I hope this is of some help to you. Have a great day, Knothead56

Thank you for your assistance. This suggestion really looked promising until I saw a photo of the fruit, which were oblong and fleshy vice the small nuts that this tree produces. It may be a different species in the Halesia genus.

Thanks, teedoc1.

After looking through a hundred or so photos of Japanese Snowbells, including of the nut produced, I believe that you have found the answer. I really appreciate it.
