Default Unknown Oak

Hi,

What kind of oak tree is this?

The tree releases thousands of those weird tiny acorn cap like things in the last picture. It seems like these are released before the acorns are fully produced. Do you think these are acorns that never developed?

Thanks!

I agree with English Oak - and the stem things are likely flowers that didn't develop fully.
