Default Unknown, light white bark, opposite leaves

Location Brisbane.

No real scent to leaves.

Whitish coloured bark very similar to melicope elleryana (euodia) in weight, texture and colour.

I've seen this around but never had to cut one down or report on one.

It was unfortunate no one else could help you identify this tree Eric. THere must a huge number of natural species in the equatorial area you are in, plus all the introduced species. It must be tough remembering them all.

Trouble is we have too many in the one sp

syzigium, over 50 I think.

eucalyptus, over 600 odd

ficus, 100's of

Also, we have the size of USA but population of only 22 million odd, so way less traffic.

In addition, we have an industry threatened by a handful of thugs.

And how many of these are you expected to know and recognize for your certifications?

I.D is on going, I really can not remember how many i've learnt ! not to mention weed species...I think you jump the I.D hurdles as you go...then you have insect I.D and families etc...etc. you retain a lot and you forget just as many.

I know that feeling JayD - I have forgotten most of my insects, and the disease ID - I have learned more since I left school. To graduate I needed to know at least 120 species of trees in the Toronto area (and don't see too many new ones) though continue to learn about shrubs. -- But the number of possibilities in Oz sort of overwhelms you just thinking about it.

tis hard, Eucalyptus are very hard, as they also hybridize.

But I like that I still have a lot to learn, will never finish learning, keeps it interesting.
