Anyone recognise this tree? Its about 6m high, slender symmetrical evergreen, dense dark shiny green foliage with the occasional bright red leaf, with distinctive flowers. The fruits are also dark olive green, very hard, about egg size but shaped more like kiwifruit. see pics attached. I Suspect it may be an Eleocarpus spp but not one I know. It was sourced from a nursury so wasn't a natural sprouter. |

It definitely looks like an Elaeocarpus. Possible E. bancroftii? They have a large, hard green fruit. There is a lot of flower variation within this genus. Sometimes this species lacks the fringed petals. Whatever she is, she's a lovely tree, flowering up a storm! Is it in your garden? Picasa Web Albums - Desirable Local |

Yes, its part of a collection of 21 rainforest trees planted for the 21st wedding anniversary. ( nah, I'm not really a sapling) Its really going well now.
