Hi everybody, I was hoping you all might be able to help me identify this species of tree growing behind my house in Wimbledon. (Actually I just moved out of London). There are several of them growing in a line arcing away through the back gardens of several estates. They are so majestic and a true joy to behold. Anyway, here's a photograph. Sorry for the poor quality, I currently don't have the right software at hand to process it a little better.

hmmm yeah thats tough without a close-up of the leaves. just looking at the branching form and foliage my guess at this stage might me sequoiadendron but its almost impossible to verify from that distance.

Thanks very much fosheezy! Great call after the initial wide angle pic! You must know your stuff. Very cool to hear that they are of the legendary sequoia family.
