Default Tree with bright orange red flowers in backyard I'm trying to ID--driving me nuts

There are two of these trees in my backyard, and I've been trying to figure out the name. It's driving me crazy. I don't have a digi cam, so I will do my best to describe. I don't know much about trees so please bear with my description if you can:

The leaves are singular, unlobed and heart-shaped almost. Not glossy. I think the branches have thorns. The dried up branches feel pliable, almost cork-like.

Before the leaves sprout after cold weather, there are these clusters of strange bright orange-red flowers at the ends of branches. They are similar to the african tulip tree blossoms, but aren't frilly like them, and the leaves are completely different.

When you squeeze the flower, water comes out of them.

It produces dark pods, and when I crushed them open, the seeds look like bright orange beans.

I am pretty sure that the trees are Erythrina (coral trees)

sounds like erythrina spp. or coral trees to me, if so get rid of them if you live in a tropical or subtropical climate and dont chip them then spread the chip as they can sprout from this.
