The flowers kind of look like something in the Hamamelis genus, but I don't really recognize anything else, so that's probably not right.

Where is the tree? Highvveld? Bushveld? Does it require a lot of water, what elevation and temp does it withstand? Could use better pics of bark and leaves as opposed to flowers. Thanks

Hi - this is one bizarre thing! I thought this might be Macaranga or a relative... However the closest I can come up with is Cecropia. Check out this website... Cecropia peltata It MIGHT be a start |

hmmm there are a few pics of Cecropia spp. with cordate leaves (unlike the typical lobed). I also got a pic of one with the kinked petals... (4th pic down) Could it be related? Or even IN the Urticaceae family? Embauba Pictures Your plant is very interesting... You could try posting your pics to a S African plant site, or SE Asian... ???? Sorry it's the best I can do! |
