Default Soft sea urchin like| large leaf

Well, this one stumped me today.

I did take off the flower thing and it felt like a rubber ball thingo kids play with, about the size of a golf ball.

I do not think it's a hakea either.

Yeah that's it ... aka Leichhardt Tree

First time I ever seen one, wild looking flower.

very uncommon, I've seen one unmarked specimen at Sydney Botanical Gardens, it was not as good a form as the one in the photo, compromised by hard surface.

Looks like a worthy to grow in a good location.

Nice camera. Good shot of inflorescence.

30metres?

David L Jones, Ornamental Rainforest Plants of Australia, 1986, says 15m and bushy, thats a big difference.

The one in Sydney was small, maybe 6m when I saw it. Couple of years ago.

30m is a sizable tree. Wonder which source is correct?
